Before the shoes are tied, before the warm-up starts, before anyone is watching, there is a quieter kind of work. It is the way you speak to yourself. The attention you bring. The intention you choose.
A pre-performance routine does not need to be elaborate. It needs to be familiar. One breath. One cue. One action you can control. Practiced often enough, that sequence becomes a place to return to.
Start by noticing how you arrive at training. Are you replaying yesterday, or already thinking about the result? Give yourself a moment to arrive in the session you are actually in.
Pick a cue that means something to you: stay present, commit, or one rep at a time. Then let your actions make it real. The routine is not a guarantee. It is a way of showing up with intention.
